Covid Update
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has modified its recommendation regarding the use of masks by vaccinated people, understanding that the Delta variant is highly transmissible, even by fully vaccinated people.
During the last seventeen months we have heeded the guidance of the CDC, Illinois Department of Public Health, the Winnebago County Health Department and the Northern Illinois Synod concerning precautions; all of those sources recommend masking for all people (vaccinated and unvaccinated) in indoor public settings.
Keeping in mind the size of our congregation and the high vaccination rate among us, the Council Executive Committee and I would like to suggest the following temporary measure:
When you come to worship here at United we strongly encourage you to wear mask, especially IF they have people in their lives who are vulnerable (anyone who is unvaccinated, especially if they are elderly and/or immunocompromised and children under 12) or if they themselves are at risk due to being immunocompromised.
Throughout this pandemic, in the spirit of love and the common good we have adhered to the guidelines of the CDC, the State of Illinois and Winnebago County. We will continue to take their recommendations seriously and be prayerful around the decisions we make. We must continue to be led by the Spirit of love.
